“Chikatsuyu”

Chikatsuyu is a place that prospered as a post station in Kumano Kodo Nakaheji, and there are various theories about the origin of the place name, but it is said that it was written as “Chikayu” and “Chikatsuyu” in the Heian period and later became “Chikatsuyu”. As a base for pilgrimage to the Kumano Kodo Holy Land leading to Kumano Hongu, The old road walking village [Chikatsuyu] is a large drive-in with meals, sweetness, bakery and souvenir purchases, and BBQ camps.
